Phoenix isn't snoring but he's muttering in his slumber.]
...mmph...I...ris...uh...
Playing straight into my headcanon, I see. ;)
The magatama's faint glow stood out in the shadow of the bench. Rather than waking his friend up right away, the prosecutor knelt down and retrieved the item. Once he was upright again, Edgeworth gazed uneasily at the object in his palm.]
(This blasted phosphorescent rock... If not for the clear and consistent cause and effect and accord with reality involved, I'd think its radiation to merely have caused hallucinations shaped by Wright's suggestion.)
I can't help it, they must talk about PSYCHOLOCKS soon
But eventually, his eyes open, and he blinks groggily. The lawyer pulls himself up into a sitting position, rubbing his eyes and groaning. He sits bolt upright when he realizes who is standing close by and turns his head toward that person's general direction. And wait - was that person holding what he thought - ]
E-Edgewooooouch!
[Instinctively he backs away, and backs straight into the wall against which the bench was located, hitting his head.]
Naturally. ;)

Hey, when I fell asleep, there was no one in this corridor! And then the first person I see waking up is you looming over me like some harbinger of doom...
[He swings his legs off the bench so his feet are back on the floor.]

[Which isn't wrong, right?]

[Edgeworth takes a couple of steps backward, then opens the door to his office with his free hand.]

Oh...thanks, by the way. I didn't know I dropped it.
I figure the answer to this one is up to the individual Phoenix; I see a few possibilities.
Er, if I might ask... Why did you lend... this to me that day?
Hmmm...I guess I can give it a try since I barely think about Phoenix headcanon.
Well...I thought you'd need it in case some people weren't going to give up their secrets so easily. And I knew I could trust you to keep Iris from getting declared guilty.
[Phoenix shrugs.]
Besides, I also wanted to be sure about...about Iris.

[Phoenix bites his lip but it's obvious that it's difficult for him to contain his laughter. His eyes are already practically glowing with amusement.]

Say that again for me one more time, Edgeworth.

Pfff...ah ha ha...I'm sorry, it's because - h-heh - when Pearls taught me how to use the magatama...

She called them Psyche-Locks.

[...And Edgeworth was barely listening once Phoenix started spouting something as seemingly nonsensical as instructions for the use of a supposedly spiritually-charged artifact. Eye-roll-inducing, that was...]
