Miles Edgeworth ♔ Ace Attorney
Re: Miles Edgeworth ♔ Ace Attorney

His eyes widen, and he freezes - not wanting to hold this magatama any longer but at the same time not wanting to drop it or leave it behind.]
What the...?!
[This Edgeworth is too shocked to say anything more, and seems to be mesmerized by the light.]
no subject
This would seem to serve as evidence that the capabilities I obtained upon my displacement were no mere fluke.
no subject
Wh...Who are you?!
[Somehow, that seems like a good question and a foolish one at the same time...]
no subject
Miles Edgeworth -- ally of the Archival Foundation and reputed "atheist cleric".
(And here, I suppose, comes the obvious objection.)
1/2
Actually, what he said was already preposterous enough in itself. "Atheist cleric"? Really? It was like a paradox. The first Edgeworth opens his mouth again...]

[Then his free arm extends, and his pointer finger is already doing what it is supposed to do.]

Suddenly, ice spreads rapidly with a faint pastel blue glimmer from the spot this Edgeworth is pointing his badge at, growing into a ten-foot radius ice slick right under his double's feet over the course of less than a second. Watch your step...]
1/2
(And that was Latin, wasn't it? Furthermore, he had just begun to argue - )
Unfortunately, just as he focuses on the ice again, it spreads right under his feet. This fact registers with his feet a split second after he sees it happen - and one of his legs suddenly jerks out from beneath him. With no ice skates and no inkling that this strange series of events would happen now, Edgeworth lets out a yelp and slips, falling ungracefully onto his bottom. He flinches when he makes impact at the pain and the humiliation and the...ugh, he really didn't know what else to think...]
no subject
What...what is the meaning of this?! How did you - whoa!
[As he slowly raises himself back up to a standing position, his right foot shoots toward the right, and he falls back onto the slick with a snarl.]

[I doubt he would be able to mend the scrapes or bruises that my pride has suffered.]
I think you've demonstrated enough. If you can create an ice rink, then you can just as easily get rid of it!
no subject
[Indeed, mere seconds later the ice melts faster than seems natural given that the other Edgeworth doesn't feel any increase in heat in the area.]
no subject
He glances down at the ground, bending down and sometimes crouching to check it for any signs of special effects equipment, hidden magic tricks that technically would only be illusions and smoke and mirrors...and needless to say, his immediate search proves futile. Edgeworth straightens up again, grateful to have a more solid footing again.]
Thank you. [His tone is a biting one, more frigid than the ice he had just made a fool of himself on.] Now, I demand an explanation!
no subject
the House of Glaringthe von Karma manor, this Edgeworth seems entirely unmoved by the outrage his double is directing at him.]As anyone reasonable would. I should warn you, however, that this truth will be difficult for you to accept. Certainly it was for myself.
Quite simply, within the physics of this world, there are additional forces at play. Some lend themselves to ordinary scientific analysis, yielding as they do to objective rules. Others... give the impression of being selective, to the point that superstitions have grown around them, and are experienced in largely subjective ways that typically reflect those same superstitions.
no subject
...Would any of these "forces" happen to be unwanted doppelgangers? [He looks his double in the eye and glares; clearly, he had expected an explanation for that, first. Why was this man assuming his identity and tying it with a foundation he had never heard of...and dubbing himself as an "atheist cleric"?!]

I will leave you something when you get back into RPing one day
Didn't Trucy have a live show today, in this park? Though he wanted her to focus on her studies, he had to admire her talent and her perseverance. She was a strong girl, a trooper, someone who rose above her circumstances. The pain she had been through had never defined her. Well, it certainly helped mold her into a better person but it did not hinder her, or stunt her growth.
Edgeworth sprinted after Pess, glancing around for any sign of Trucy. Had the show started? Was he on the wrong side of the park? It would not be polite to miss her show, especially not after promising to attend it.]
Re: I will leave you something when you get back into RPing one day
... will disappear before your very eyes! [ A sound, a snap not unlike someone's gum bubble bursting, rings out and...
well, Trucy's standing in front of Edgeworth now, smelling only mildly like the sewer that served as her trap door. ]
... Mr. Edgeworth, you came!
no subject
But Trucy popping up before him is enough to give him a mini heart attack. He's never used to her tricks because she just has so many.]
T-Trucy! [Uh-oh, he smells something questionable, and it's not how Trucy appeared before him.]
...Y-Yes, I did...I apologize for being late. [Pess sticks his head out from the leaves and comes bounding toward Trucy.]
... yo >_> <_<
fuzzbuttdoggy! Pess is gonna get a whole lot of fuss and petting from her before she straightens up and grins at Edgeworth. ]It's not a problem. You get to watch the best bit. [ Her audience have already seen her sudden movement, but that's okay, because Trucy turns with a wink and dazzles everyone with a blizzard of confetti and glitter.
... And she's up in the tree by the time all of that clears, but Edgeworth might have seen her be tugged up by a mechanism strapped around her waist. ]
no subject
Before Edgeworth could reply, suddenly there is a rush of confetti and glitter and then Trucy is already up a tree. His first concern is safety; he noticed something pull her upward, but she seems unharmed and totally fearless about it. That makes him smirk a bit. That, and the fact that his observational skills were still strong. Trucy had everyone dancing in the palm of her hand, believing she could appear and disappear like that and not know what was going on.
Then again, perhaps it was merely because he knew her better than most people did. Only "most" people, of course.
In any case, he joins the crowd in applauding her performance. Magic may be sleight of hand, strategy and optical illusions in the end, but it was still something worth watching.]
no subject
But, with the show finished, Trucy fishes out a rope ladder from her waist bag (another sleight of hand she'll never explain) and hooks it over the branch to climb down, immediately running over to Pess.
... What, his owner's still here? ] Who's a good boy?
no subject
Edgeworth watches Trucy get down from the tree and run to Pess. There is an amused look on the prosecutor's face.]
Impressive. [She has certainly come a long way from the little girl Phoenix first adopted.]
